The older I get, the more I want to try and help my body. I love food, but I still found myself suffering with bad skin, breakouts, and a lack of energy etc after eating certain dishes, and wanted to find out exactly what could be triggering these things.

Enter ‘Check My Body Health’ and their Food Intolerance test.

Check My Body Health tests 1,500 food & non-food items, and promises to list everything you have an intolerance to, so I decided to go for it.

As mentioned in the title, I have a 15% discount for you to use on ANY Check My Body Health test, all you need to do is click the following link, and it will automatically apply to any order you wish to make.

Background:

I’d actually had an intolerance test maybe 6/7 years ago, and it was this test that confirmed that alcohol and myself were not a good match. I had my suspicions for a long-time, four day hangovers seemed excessive, but it was great to finally get actual confirmation.

I remember things like peppers, and perhaps potatoes also being on the list, but to be honest, I didn’t really do much with the information. I think I was so happy to see that I actually did have an intolerance to alcohol (even if it took me another 5 years to stop drinking), that I kind of ignored the rest.

I kept eating the things I liked, kept suffering, so finally decided to get another one as I know bodies can change, and ordered a test through the aforementioned, Check My Body Health.

I went with the Intolerance test, as it covers a LOT, and I felt that this was enough for me and my needs at this stage:

The Test Process:

So simple. There is nothing sent out, so it’s important to remember this. Did I forget about my test after ordering it, thought I’d lost a test kit that they didn’t even send out, and send an email asking them to send out a new one? Yes. Yes I did.

To avoid such embarrassment and just to be clear, they don’t send you out a test kit, but provide instructions on what you need to do.

The Intolerance Test I used analysed your hair, which isn’t ideal as a bald man, but I was able to cut hairs from my beard, and they recommend 10-15 for shorter hair, and 10 strands for longer hair.

You then place said hair in a sealable bag, make sure to include your unique test reference number, and send it off in an envelope.

I was impressed that Check My Body Health confirmed the arrival of my sample, and then you just need to wait for your results.

Receiving the Test Results:

The gap between my sample arriving, and my intolerance results, TWO DAYS!

I had just booked the regular test, with no fast-tracking or anything, so I was pleasantly surprised with the quick turnaround.

You’ll receive an email like the one above, click the download button to get your personalised PDF, and all that’s left to do is dive in, and see what intolerances your body may or may not have.

The results PDF is very detailed, with mine coming in at 32 pages (your boy has a LOT of intolerances), and after a couple of pages of background information, you get to the juicy stuff.

One thing I will point out here, is that it’s nice that Check My Body Health once again remind you of what they’re testing for, and also highlight some new tests that I presume they have recently started running. The Anxious Travel Guy is 41-years-old now, so yes, anti-aging tests are welcome.

As someone who can be prone to stress (peep the name of the blog), I also appreciated having this, as well as sleep (I do not function well without a good sleep) analysed. These were unexpected, but welcome, additions.

What do the Check My Body Health results say?

Right, you’ve had 1,750 items tested, it’s time for the results. You’re immediately shown a big red circle, highlighting how many of the items fall in the following category: High Reactivity / Outside Range.

I know you’re curious, so here’s my magic number:

I was sensitive to 146 of 1750 items on the Check My Body Health intolerance test

Immediately following this, you get your ‘Moderate Reactivity’ results, which look like this:

And, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, the nice green circle is the last thing for you to check out in your results form.

The No Reactivity / Within Range on the Check My Body Health intolerance test
The good news is, I don't have thousands of foods to eliminate from my diet

That green circle is vibes, but of course, we want to know what’s in that red circle, so here’s a little sneak peak of what to expect.

I see you beer. I see you.

You’re presented with a list of however many intolerances make the cut, in alphabetical order, so if you were unsure about a certain food, you can immediately go and see if it's on the list.

I think I initially went to see if alcohol in all its forms was on my list of intolerances, and straight off the bat I saw that beer was there. You might remember from above, that alcohol featured in the original intolerance test I did, so it felt like validation of the tests' effectiveness to see it there again.

I went through the list, and wrote down all of the things I consume regularly to store in my notes, and I can go back and check these from time to time. There are a lot of intolerances listed that probably won’t change your day to day life, for example, in my list above, I know I’m not a big fan of cashew’s, so I don’t pay much thought to those.

There are some though that hit you right in the feels. Your boy was loving coconut water whilst travelling in Vietnam, but now I’m going to have to show that restraint when I’m tempted in the future. There were also a couple that really hurt me on the list, so much so that I added a crying emoji next to them in my notes. I’m looking at you Ice-Cream and Milk Chocolate.

It’s also important to point out that I’ve been eating a number of these things for a while, which is probably why I still struggle with my skin, but I can’t remember having any hugely intense reactions.

For me, I’m going to use the intolerances as a guide, and I am going to try and be better with food in general, but it’s super useful going through everything in the report and seeing what your body does, and doesn’t, vibe with.

The Check My Body Health intolerance test doesn't just check for food sensitivities

I also like that the Check My Body Health intolerance report highlights non-food substances, and I appreciate that you get more bang for your buck than initially expected.

The moderate and no reactivity sections of the report follow the same pattern, listing everything nice and clearly, so you should have a really solid understanding by the time you’ve gotten through everything.

Do you get any extras with your report?

You do! Towards the end of your intolerance report, you’ll see a clickable page which takes you to a whole new guide and food diary etc. Again, this wasn’t something I expected, and I’ve skimmed it, more than consumed it at this point, but it does seem to include some very useful additions.

This is what you need to click to access it when you see it in your results form:

I did appreciate having access to a results guide that broke everything down even further

And here’s a little peak at the list of contents so you can get an idea on what to expect:

There is a LOT of additional content in the Check My Body Health results guide

I like how things are broken down here, and as they point out, it’s important to remember that you’re not allergic to the red things you’ll see in your report, but that you have a sensitivity.

I also like that there is an interactive element to this bonus guide. I think it would be nice to print it out, and fill it in as you go. For example, there is an ‘Aims and Objectives’ section, and a food diary/reintroduction section which could be super useful:

Check My Body Health's reintroduction guide
The Reintroduction diary was a nice touch in the additional guide

Other things I appreciated in this extra guide, were a guide to vitamins, because yes, I’m 41, and still not really sure which foods provide which vitamins. I normally don’t put much thought into what I’m eating, just try and add healthier options from time to time, so this was useful to see what foods can actually help with adding certain vitamins to the diet.

The sources of vitamins section in the Check My Body Health additional guide was super useful for me

Lastly from this extra guide, and this was actually something I didn’t really check until researching this blog post, there is an opportunity to ‘Ask the Experts’ any question you may have about your results. This is a really nice touch, and something I may look to take advantage of:

Anything else you want to share?

Why yes, yes there is. For those who want to continue on their journey, there is a paid option available that actually looks really good value for money:

Check My Body Health's free trial for meal programmes
You can also access an online meal planner with Check My Body Health

I’ve had a look, and you get access to an online meal planner, the ability to create your own meal planner, 30,000 recipes to choose from, and you’re also able to select predefined diets that could help you (dairy-free, low-carb) etc, all for a monthly price of just £2.99 at the time of writing (early 2026).

Full disclosure, I haven’t used this service, so can’t write too much on this, but looking from afar, I can see how it could be very useful.

Final Thoughts:

I’m firmly on the side of intolerance tests. They confirmed my issues with alcohol, even if it did take me years to finally stop, and that alone is reason enough for me to praise the service.

The level of detail Check My Body Health goes into though is genuinely impressive. You get the main results, which is of course what most of us will primarily be looking for, but you do get so much more. I feel I have a better understanding of this whole area, which I hope will inform better food decisions going forward.

It might feel like too much information, but I was happy with my approach to analysing the results. Go through them, and pick out foods that you eat that appear in the red or amber sections, and start trying to eat them less, and maybe even eventually eliminate them from your diet.

It’s not a race, I still occasionally eat things that appeared firmly on my high reactivity results list (no surprises, it’s milk chocolate and ice-cream), but if you start making the changes, I hope you start to see a difference.

I purchased the Body Intolerance test, but if you wanted to go next level, there is also a Premium Food & Drink Intolerance test available, as well as a Food Allergy test. I think the Food Allergy test could be so useful to so many people, especially if you notice strong reactions after eating food.

And remember, bodies change, and food allergies can develop at any time. One of my best friends’ sister recently developed a kiwi AND lemon allergy from seemingly nowhere. These things can happen, so if in doubt, and you want those quick results, then the Food Allergy test could be perfect for you.

I never had such strong reactions to food, alcohol was my biggest issue for my body, but if I did with food, the allergy test is something I’d consider.

The fact you can ask experts, get a results break down guide, you can purchase a meal planner etc, means you get more than you’d perhaps expect when initially purchasing, and I’d have no qualms in recommending Check My Body Health.

I got what I needed from the service, and I hope you do too.

Reminder, if you want that 15% off your first purchase, I got you! This is available to use on ANY Check My Body Health test, all you need to do is click the following link, and it will automatically apply to any order.

If you do purchase anything, I’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to share your experiences in the comments, or via message. Alternatively, any questions, feel free to message and I will do my best to answer.

Thanks for reading!
