Using an Airalo eSIM in Bosnia - Review and Prices

I love this part of Europe. There are so many beautiful countries all packed close together, the prices are reasonable, and there is just so much to do.Â
I’ve been to a lot of countries in the Balkans, and Bosnia was actually one of the last ones I had to tick off. I’ve come to Mostar, and goodness me is it beautiful. I will save my thoughts on that for another post though, as you’re visiting here to get the low down on using an Airalo eSIM in Bosnia.
Airalo has often been my go to for eSIM’s, even though recently I have started doing a bit more research ahead of time. On this occasion though, I had a long coach journey from Belgrade to Mostar (not fun), I knew I wanted to be connected as soon as I crossed the border, so I set up my Airalo eSIM before we departed.
Airalo, and I think eSIM’s in general, are a lot easier to use than they were even a year ago. On my phone now, you just need to press a button on the app, and the eSIM should install without any issues.
Previously you had to manually copy codes, find networks etc, but now a lot of eSIM companies do this automatically for you on your phone. If you do ever have an issue, then the customer support for these companies are usually really good.
Anyway, let’s have a look at how much the Airalo eSIM costs in Bosnia, and my experiences with connectivity, and how fast my data is used.
The price of an Airalo eSIM in Bosnia:
As is often the case with Airalo, there are a number of different options to take advantage of when booking your eSIM.Â
You can choose from 1GB to 20GB, with durations of the eSIM going from 7 days up to 30 days.

As I often say, 1GB is perfect if you prefer to get a manual eSIM on the ground, and you perhaps need data to get to your accommodation etc. I personally normally go for 10GB if I am going to be in a place a week or longer, and that’s the package I went for in Bosnia.Â
As mentioned, I’m in Mostar, and Mostar is very touristy, so I imagine people visiting here would be here for a shorter time. In that case, the 3GB or 5GB options could be the one for you.Â
Airalo are always very competitive with their pricing, and that is the case here. I had a look at other options, and Airalo offered more GB’s in their packages (I saw with another eSIM company, the most GB you could purchase was 5GB), so if you are here a longer time, then Airalo makes sense. Â
What has the coverage been like?
Really strong. I’ve had no problems in Mostar, and the only time it dropped temporarily was in a national park in the middle of nowhere and when going up and down a lot of hills. Besides that, coverage has been incredibly consistent.Â
I’ve done a lot of walking around, to all parts of the city, and when I’ve checked, I’ve always been connected.
How much data have you used?
I think I keep purchasing too much data, as a week into my Bosnia stay, I still have 6GB of my original 10GB left.Â

I teased it at the top, but I couldn’t sleep on the coach. Despite being from Wales, famous for its windy roads and mountains, I couldn’t get off to sleep in similar terrain, so what do we do when we can’t sleep? Play on our phones of course.
I probably had 4/5 hours of scrolling that night alone, and of course I use my phone when I’m out and about in Mostar, use maps etc, so to have over 6GB left after a week of use, count me impressed Airalo.
Being connected whenever I want for just £16? Win.Â
If you’re in a group, travelling with your family and friends etc, then it could even be worth one of you getting an eSIM, and just hotspotting when needed. This could be a nice way to save money, as data seems to go pretty far in Bosnia.Â
Is Airalo the best eSIM for Bosnia?
I’m actually writing this from Bosnia, and honestly, it’s been seamless throughout. I’ve had data when needed, web pages, social media, maps etc are very quick to load, and as you’ve seen, data goes really far here.
Airalo is my recommendation for a Bosnia eSIM.
Looking for an Airalo Discount code?Â
Then look no further my friends! I can offer you £2.50 off your first eSIM purchase, and all you need to do is sign up here, and the referral code should load automatically.
You can also use the code DAVID8186 at checkout, and you'll get that £2.50 off your first eSIM purchase!
If you’re not using £ as your currency, then the discount will be in your currency, so if you use Euros, you’ll get 3 Euros off your first eSIM, use dollars, you’ll get $3 off etc.
